LUCKNOW: UP police’s special task force (STF) busted a gang involved in duping people across the country by impersonating as movers and packers by arresting five persons on Friday.
The accused have been identified as Anuj Singh, Adesh Singh, Manoj Kumar Singh, Ankur Singh and Shivam Singh, all residents of Farrukhabad. The gang operated from offices in Vikasnagar and Indiranagar.
The accused had registered themselves on an app as providers of transportation service providers across India.

STF swung into action after an official of Andhra Pradesh government was duped of Rs 1 lakh by the gang which offered cheap rates for shifting goods from Sangareddy to Gulbarga in April this year.
Deputy SP STF Indra Prakash Singh said the miscreants floated multiple online transport agencies and got them registered on an online service provider portal using fake addresses. They lured customers by offering low transporting cost and asked them to deposit advance amount of Rs 10,000 in bank accounts they opened using forged identity proofs.
The fraudsters used to close the bank account after withdrawing money and switched off their mobiles phones.
The gang had made over Rs 1 crore by duping people, said the STF official.
The accused were arrested from a rented flat in Gudamba following a tip-off from an informer.
All accused were handed over to Gudamba police after an FIR of fraud, forgery and criminal breach of trust was registered against them.
