LUCKNOW: A 22-year-old girl was found hanging in her room in Jankipuram on Sunday. Acting on the complaint of the girl's father, a case of abetment to suicide was lodged against man for allegedly stalking her.
A counter complaint was lodged by the man's mother.
SHO Jankipuram, Mohammad Ashraf said the girl preparing for competitive exams was found hanging in her room on the first floor of her house at around 8pm.

The girl's father said that one Rajat Tiwari had been stalking his daughter for past many months and she had lodged a complaint on Woman Powerline 1090. Tiwari was sending text messages and used to call her.
"Rajat was called to police station, but the girl was not willing to lodge a case, so we let the man go after a warning," SHO said. "On Sunday, Tiwari came to our house with his parents and abused us . When they went away, the girl went to her room and locked it. We broke the door when she didn't respond to knocks and found her hanging from the ceiling fan with dupatta," the father said.
"We took her to a private hospital where doctors declared her brought dead," he said. The boy's mother Chandrawati also lodged a complaint accusing the girl's father and brother of assaulting her, Rajat and his father Rajesh.
