LUCKNOW: In another daring loot in city, a woman was robbed of her jewellery and purse by miscreants at gunpoint in Aashiana on Sunday. The woman lodged a complaint and an FIR was registered on Monday, just four days after a woman had been attacked at gunpoint in Indiranagar and had foiled their attempt with a courageous fightback.

The complainant, Shikha Tiwari, a resident of Mahanagar, was going to visit her brother Omkar Pandey in Sindhunagar area of Krishnanagar.
At 3.30pm, when her autorickshaw reached office of circle officer Cantonment on Jail road, two miscreants came from behind and trained a pistol at her. They snatched her gold chain and purse before she could raise alarm.
“In a bid to save chain, Tiwari lost balance and fell on road while the miscreants escaped by the time passersby rushed to help. I called UP100 but help reached late while district police was also late,” she said.
“Police reached about 20 minutes after I had called UP100. They could have been intercepted miscreants if they had responded on time,” she told TOI.
Aashiana SHO Brajesh Kumar Singh said that a case has been registered and footage of CCTVs in the area is being scanned to identify miscreants. So far, 38 purse and chain snatching incidents have been reported in last one month, out of which in eight cases, miscreants had trained gun on victims.

In most incidents, victims complained about late response of UP100 and police.
Lucknow SSP Kalanidhi Naithani said that teams have been set up to nab miscreants. “Sketches have been made from CCTV footage of past incidents and efforts are on to catch them,” said Naithani, while urging people on spot to call CO crime at 9454401186.
On May 29, armed men had tried to loot chain of Urmila Devi in Indiranagar, but she foiled their bid.
