LUDHIANA: A Nigerian national tried to smuggle 1.5kg heroin from Delhi to Ludhiana on a bus by hiding it in five 1kg containers of peanut butter, but a team of Khanna police foiled his bid on Sunday.
Hailing from Ebnoyi state of Nigeria, 40-year-old Toby Moiz was arrested at a check post in Neelon, Samrala. He was also found in possession of 15 grams of cocaine, which he hid in his bag's pocket.
In India, Moiz had been living at Uttam Nagar in Delhi, and posing as a cloth trader. Khanna SSP Dhruv Dahiya said a team was checking suspected vehicles and persons at a check post near Canal Bridge in Neelon when the accused was nabbed. The accused has been booked under sections of the NDPS Act at Samrala police station, and has been arrested. During questioning, Moiz told the police that he bought the consignment of heroin and cocaine from a man named John in Delhi.
