‘100% procurement & payments made for paddy’
Ludhiana: In the ongoing paddy season, 100 percent procurement and lifting of paddy has been carried out in Ludhiana district. All the farmers have bee duly paid for their produce. The announcement was made by Ludhiana deputy commissioner Pardeep Kumar Agrawal on Wednesday.
Giving more information he said, “Till December 4, payment of Rs 2,964.51 crore has already been made to farmers through online facility.
Procurement, lifting and payments for paddy crop are going on in Ludhiana district smoothly. District administration is ensuring that the farmers do not face any problem right from the moment when their crops arrive in mandis till the time payments are made.”
Agrawal said that entire 16,79,190 metric tonne of paddy has been lifted and as per the directions of Punjab government. All senior officials are supervising the procurement online and grievance cells have also been formed in all mandis of Ludhiana district.
DC appealed to all the farmers to ensure that they bring only dry crop in mandis so that their produce is procured without any delay. He also directed the officials to visit the mandis on a daily basis and make entry in the special registers kept at mandis without fail.
