14-yr-old boy dies while catching moving train
Ludhiana: In a heart-wrenching incident, a 14-year-old boy of Jawahar Nagar, who was returning after meeting his grandmother at Mullanpur, was crushed under a passenger train while attempting to catch it on Thursday afternoon at Mullanpur railway station.
Ankush Kumar, a student of Class VIII, sustained several major injuries after he fell off the passenger train coming towards Ludhiana station.
He was rushed to a private hospital, where he was declared ‘brought dead’ before family members.
Investigation officer Jiwan Singh, assistant sub-inspector at GRP (Ludhiana), informed that Ankush had gone to celebrate Holi with his grandmother on Thursday after his final exams got over. However, while returning home, he was crushed while trying to board a train at Mullanpur railway station, as he could not get hold of the side handle.”
Within no time, GRP took the minor to hospital for medical examination, where he was declared ‘brought dead’ on Friday afternoon. The police have informed the family members of Ankush, who went into a shock after hearing the news. The police have initiated investigation under Section 174 of CrPC.
Dharminder Kumar, father of Ankush, informed the police that his son had passed class VIII with good marks, and was admitted to the next class. “To celebrate Holi, he had gone to visit his grandmother, but did not come back,” he added.
