2 Nigerians held with 100g heroin
Ludhiana: Police arrested two Nigerians after recovering 100g of heroin from their possession on Friday. The accused were identified as Frank of Imo, Nigeria, who is presently living in Burari of New Delhi and Kingsley of the same country now living in Gandhi Vihar, New Delhi. According to police, the estimated cost of the recovered consignment in international market is about Rs 50 lakh.
Giving details, SP investigation, Khanna, Jasvir Singh said as part of special campaign against drug trafficking, a police party of Doraha police station had put up a checkpost on GT Road.
He added that the police party saw two foreigners coming from Doraha bus stand.
Police officer said on the basis of suspicion, the police party stopped them for checking after which they identified themselves. He added that on frisking them, police recovered 50g heroin from Frank and equal amount of the contraband was recovered from Kingsley. Both are in the age group of 35 and 40 years.
SP said the accused were booked under sections 21/61/85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 at Doraha police station and they were later arrested. He added that the culprits are still being questioned and there is a possibility of major disclosures from them. It was added that the duo had brought the consignment from Delhi and were to supply the same in Ludhiana district.
Cops said the accused may have been illegally staying in India after coming here on tourist visa and police is probing whether they had overstayed their tourist visa. They added that apparently the accused may have come to the state for the first time.
