2 sisters arrested with 12kg cannabis
Ludhiana: Two women drug peddlers were arrested with 12kg cannabis (charas) from the city railway station on Sunday.
Ludhiana Government Railway Police (GRP) assistant sub-inspector Jiwan Singh said the women — Radhika and Manju Devi, both residents of Bihar — were on their way to supply the consignment to a customer near the bus stand.
Sources in police said, “Radhika and Manju are sisters.
They had boarded a Bihar-Amritsar train on Saturday morning. Early on Sunday, one of them got off the train at Ludhiana, but the other could not due to rush. On reaching Jalandhar, the second sister took a train to Ludhiana. The two were exiting the station when the GRP caught them.”
A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Police will now present the two in a local court to seek their custody for further investigation.
Security has been tightened at the station ahead of the parliamentary elections.
