6 caught with ‘unaccounted’ cash of Rs 62.3L in Khanna
Ludhiana: The police caught six men with “unaccounted” cash of Rs 62.3 lakh in two separate cases in Khanna on Wednesday. After they failed to produce supporting documents, the cops handed them over to the income tax department along with the recovered cash.
In the first case, a police party signalled a red i-20 car (HR-20-BH-2501) coming from Gobindgarh side to stop at a check-post near a mall on GT Road in Alour.

Khanna SSP Dhruv Dahiya said, “There were three men in the car. The driver identified himself as Manoj Kumar, the one sitting next to him as Vishat Arora, both residents of Mann Sirovar Garden, Delhi, and the third as Narinder Singh of Delhi’s Rajagarh Rajori Garden. During checking, the police party recovered Rs 49.8 lakh from the car. As they had no valid documents, the three were handed over to the investigation wing of the income tax department for further investigation.”
In the second case, Rs 12.5 lakh was recovered from another car at the same check-post.
“The cash was found hidden in a white Swift Desire car (DL-2C-AP-5215), which too was coming from Gobindgarh side. Its driver identified himself as Gurav and the other two occupants as Ashu Goyal and Raj Kumar, all residents of Uttar Pradesh. They too were handed over to the income tax department’s investigation wing along with the cash as they had no required documents to prove its legitimacy,” said a cop.
He added that they were probing if the money was meant for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Income tax department officials confirmed having received the two cases. The six have been asked to prove the legitimate source of the recovered cash, they added.
