PATIALA: AAP's Ropar MLA, Amarjit Singh Sandoa, will face a trial in court for the charges of outraging the modesty of a woman, obscenity, criminal intimidation and voluntarily causing hurt.
A court in Ropar framed charges against Sandoa on Friday, in connection with a molestation case registered against him in July 2017.
The complainant is a woman who had rented her house to Sandoa in October 2016, while he was preparing to contest the Punjab assembly elections.

The complainant had claimed that she had rented out the property for Rs 30,000 a month, excluding electricity and water bills, and the cost of any damage to property.
In her complaint, she alleged that Sandoa used foul language against her when she asked him to pay the pending rent for March 2017. "He then assaulted me, following which I fell down a flight of stairs," she had alleged.
Police had then registered a case under sections 354 (outraging modesty of a woman), 294 (obscenity), 506 (criminal intimidation), 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the IPC against the AAP legislator.

After the Ropar police filed a challan in the court of chief judicial magistrate (CJM) Pooja Angodra, Sandoa had filed an application to seek a reinvestigation, narco analysis, and brain mapping of the complainant, but the plea was rejected.
For now, the court has granted permission to the legislator to go abroad. The court has asked Sandoa to surrender a fixed deposit (FD) of Rs 4 lakh as bail amount and asked him to attend the next hearing by August 21.
