Bittu steps up his election campaign, while rivals camp in Delhi
Ludhiana: On one side Ludhiana MP Ravneet Singh Bittu is making his campaign more aggressive and even not leaving any chance to meet the disgruntled workers and leaders of congress party upset with him but on the other hand his rivals who too have applied for MP ticket from Ludhiana are visiting congress senior leaders in Delhi in a last minute attempt to convince high command to not to give Bittu ticket and consider them instead.
These leaders are confident that high command will consider their candidature and Bittus seat will be changed to some other constituency.
According to Pawan Dewan, secretary of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) who was in Delhi on Friday, spoke to TOI and said, The meeting of screening committee is yet to take place and the name of MP candidate from Ludhiana will be finalised only then. We are hopeful that deserving candidate will be given the ticket and it is not necessary that party will give ticket to sitting MP only Dewan also said that he too has started the campaign for MP election and he has already started conducting meeting with party workers.
According to Rocky Bhargav another candidate who had applied for MPs ticket from Ludhiana, who too was in Delhi yesterday The name of Ludhiana MP candidate will be declared in first week of April and central election committee comprising of 13 members who are out topmost leaders like Rahul Gandghi, Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi etc will take a call on who will be the final choice for the seat. The high command has already been conveyed the feedback from local leadership and workers that a hindu candidate for MP seat should be selected for Ludhiana seat and it seems that decision will be take in this direction only Meanwhile Ludhiana MP Ravneet Bittu could not be contacted for his take on this issue.
