Ludhiana: Businessmen apprise customs chief commissioner of their problems

LUDHIANA: Chief Commissioner of Customs (preventive), Delhi Zone Ranjana Jha on Thursday visited Ludhiana to interact with city-based exporters and importers to understand the problems being faced by them.
Most of the exporters pointed out about the difficulty they were facing due to the integrated GST (IGST) refunds, some of them raised concerns about the blocking of working capital of micro small and medium enterprises (MSME)
Addressing to some of the grievances faced by them, Jha said, “The IGST refunds of around 50 exporters had been withheld because of pending verification.
This comprises of only 2 percent of the total number of exporters at Ludhiana.” She said that the verification for IGST refunds was essential as it was generated by the system based on risk parameters. She assured them that they should not worry as the matter would be taken up at the highest level and a solution to the problem would be worked out soon.
Moreover the problem is not in Ludhiana Commissionerate alone and was being faced at major ports of export all over India. Jha also told them about some of the features of ease of doing business and urged businessmen to come out with suggestion and feedback about the ongoing schemes and policies of customs department. Some of the prominent businessmen present during the interaction included Upkar Singh Ahuja, Pankaj Sharma, Harish Dua, Vinod Thapar, Mridula Jain, Charanjeev Singh, GS Kahlon.
