‘Chances of light rainfall on Sunday, Monday’
Ludhiana: The met department has predicted rainfall in the city in the next few days. Normal weather conditions prevailed in the city on Saturday as normal temperatures were recorded in the city.
The impact of the rainfall, which lashed the city on Thursday, was witnessed on Saturday as the maximum (day) temperature was recorded at 39 degrees Celsius, which is 2 degrees more than normal.
The day temperature in the city on Friday was recorded at 36 degrees Celsius, which was a degree less than normal.
The minimum (night) temperature in Ludhiana on Saturday was recorded at 25.7 degrees Celsius, which is around normal, but 2.5 degrees more than on Friday. As the residents were happy with the normal weather prevailing in city, the met department has more good news for them.
“On Sunday and Monday, there are chances of light rainfall that may keep the temperatures around normal in the city. There are chances of winds of 50-60 kmph blowing in city on these days,” said Chandigarh Met department director Surender Paul.
The met department website meanwhile predicts rainfall activity till June 27. It’s forecast suggests that day temperature may fall to 35 degrees Celsius till coming Tuesday, whereas the night temperature is expected to touch the 26-degree mark. The residents are meanwhile heaving a sigh of relief after recent rains brought down the temperature in the city.
“Till Thursday, it was getting hotter in the city with each passing day. The rainfall was no less than a blessing. As the weather is normal in the city, we are just using fans during the day instead of air conditioners. Another good part is that the body one does not feel dehydrated and or fatigued in such weather,” said Kulwant Singh, a trader from BRS Nagar.
Children also love the weather in city. Nine-year-old Rahul from Civil Lines said: “It was so hot around three days ago, that it was very hard to go outside during daytime. With the recent rainfall, the weather condition has changed for the good as we can now go out and play.
