CICU organizes workshop on fire safety
Ludhiana: Expressing concern over the rising number of fire incidents in the industrial units of Ludhiana, the Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) has decided to organize training seminars for businessmen so that they can be made aware about how to avert such incidents.
A workshop was organized here on Monday in which dozens of industry representatives took part.

Upkar Singh Ahuja, president of CICU, said: “There is a tremendous increase in fire incidents in the industrial units and if it is not controlled quickly, it can lead to huge disaster. As the CICU has been organizing seminars, workshops and training programmes to upgrade knowledge and skills of industrial representatives of Punjab, we are now going to organize awareness sessions on fire safety as well.”
He said: “Fire incidents in the industrial units are increasing day-by-day and around two to three fire incidents are reported in Ludhiana on a daily basis. The workshop on fire safety for units like plywood, garments, rubber, plastic and chemical etc will help decrease the number of such incidents. The workshops will train workers and staff members about how to control various types of fire in a short span of time to minimize loses.”
According to Pankaj Sharma, general secretary of CICU, said: “Today’s workshop was conducted by Vishal Sharma, who gave his expert guidance to the participants on how to keep industrial units safe and what action should be taken in case fire occurs in their factory. The workshop was attended by more than 47 participants from various reputed industrial units and certificate of participation were also distributed to the participants.”
