Comply with plan or face action: Committee on Buddha Nullah
Ludhiana: In order to curb the pollution level in Buddha Nullah, the committee framed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) conducted its first meeting on Wednesday in Chandigarh. In the meeting, officials from various departments were asked to comply with the action plan submitted by the state government for rejuvenation of water bodies in the state.
The committee members have decided to take regular samples from the sides of Buddha Nullah for checking its pollution level regularly and from next week onwards the MC, Punjab Pollution Control Board and drainage department will check flow of water inside drain on a regular basis.

The chairperson of committee Justice (retd) Pritam Pal warned erring officials with strict actions adding that the deadlines fixed for various activities should not be missed. He claimed that committee members will visit actual sites to check the progress of various works going on for rejuvenation of Buddha Nullah. The MC had already submitted a plan for upgradation of sewerage treatment plants and as per that plan it will be completed by June 2020 and so officials have been asked to stick to the deadline.
The environmentalist Balbir Singh Seechewal who is also a member of this committee claimed there will be regular monitoring of the ongoing works for rejuvenation of Buddha Nullah and Satluj river.
