Couple implicates daughter’s in-laws in dowry case
Ludhiana: Police have booked a couple for allegedly giving forged documents to police to implicate their son-in-law in a false dowry case. It is alleged that the accused furnished forged bills of jewellery shop before police claiming that their daughter’s in-laws were given the jewellery worth Rs 2.50 lakh as dowry.
The accused have been identified as Inderpal Singh and Gurpeet Kaur of Punjab Mata Nagar.
A case against them has been registered under sections of 177 (furnishing false information), 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will etc), 468 (Forgery for purpose of cheating), 470 (forged document) of the Indian Penal Code.
In his complaint Jorawar Singh Bhindar, 33, of Vikas Nagar said he got married to Puleen Kaur on February 16, 2013. They had strain relations following which on March 2018 his wife went to the US. While leaving the house, he alleged that she also took some valuables along without informing anyone. Thereafter he lodged a complaint with police on May 17, 2018.
He added that following his complaint, Puleen lodged a fake compliant with police staring that her in-law’s family had harassed her for dowry.
ASI Sheeshpal said it was identified that the bill of jewellery shop was forged by Puleen’s parents. On the basis of that the police have booked the couple, but are yet to be arrested.
