Court frame charges against AAP Ropar legislator Sandoa

PATIALA: The local court here in Ropar have framed charges against Ropar Aam Aadmi Party legislator Amarjit Singh Sandoa in a case registered against him under sections of hurting modesty of woman, and uttering obscene words, criminal intimidation and voluntary causing hurt.
The case against Sandoa was lodged by Ropar police in July last year on complaint of woman who had rented her house to Sandoa in October 2016 while he was contesting the state assembly elections.

The complainant Tarminder Kaur had allegedly rented her house in Zail Singh Nagar of the city to Sandoa on a monthly rent of Rs 30,000 excluding the electricity and water bills and any damage caused to property. She in her complaint to the police claimed that when Sandoa failed to clear the rent of March she asked him to pay the same but he abused her, he also assaulted her following which she fell down on the floor and then intimidated her of dire consequences.
The police had then registered the case under sections 354, 294, 506, 509, and 323 of Indian Penal Code against the legislator. After the Ropar police filed challan in the court of Chief Judicial magistrate Pooja Angodra the legislator had filed applications one by one including seeking of re-investigation of the entire matter, NARCO test and brain mapping however the same were rejected.
Meanwhile the court had granted permission to the legislator for going abroad after a plea was filed by Sandoa, however the court told him to surrender a Fixed Deposit (FD) of Rs 4 lakh from him as bail amount and asked him to attend the next hearing by August 21.
