Daba bizmen up against Ludhiana civic body for poor roads, sewerage

Write To Cabinet Minister About Their Plight
Daba bizmen up against Ludhiana civic body for poor roads, sewerage
Despite repeated complaints to the MC, junior engineer and councillors, the waterlogged roads and overflowing sewerage system have become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
LUDHIANA: Businessmen in Daba area are up in arms against area councillors and the municipal corporation. They held them responsible for the poor condition of sewerage and other infrastructure in the area, especially in street number 2.
According to businessmen, blame game is going on between the councilors. Councillor Pankaj Sharma claims that the affected area is under councillor Jaspal Singh Giaspura, while Giaspura claims it the other way.
Giving more information, Sanjeev Kansal of Kansal Industries, said: "The situation in our area has become worse.
Waterlogged streets, open manholes, garbage lying on streets etc are a common site here for the last few months. Officials of the Ludhiana municipal corporation have turned a deaf ear. The entire system has collapsed whether it is the government department, its officials or the elected representatives. Everyone has turned a blind eye to our problems."
Gautam Jain, finance secretary of the small scale manufacturers association, Daba road, said: "Condition of roads in our area is becoming worse because of negligence of the authorities concerned. The authorities are blaming each other and residents and industrialists are suffering at their hands. Ludhiana cannot become a smart city if its industrial areas are ignored and not developed accordingly. Despite repeated complaints to the MC, junior engineer and councillors, the waterlogged roads and overflowing sewerage system have become a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Both the councillors are blaming each other, but none is ready to work for the betterment of the area."
Ravi Goel, publicity secretary of the small scale manufacturers association, Daba road, said: "Industrialists pay advance taxes and fee to the MC, therefore, asking for proper sanitation and sewerage system is our right. But at the same time, it has become difficult for us to get even the smallest work done from the department concerned or the councillors."
Yash Pal Kansal, senior member of the small scale manufacturers association, said: "Every year during monsoon, the condition of roads turn poor."
Gaurav Bhola of small scale manufacturers association, said: "We are fed up of the attitude of all the officials concerned. Instead of solving our problems, they are playing blame games, leaving us to suffer. Therefore, we have also written a letter to the cabinet minister, Brahm Mohindra, and other ministers in the state government, explaining them about our plight. We are hopeful that our problems will be solved."
