Dugri residents seek deployment of more cops for better policing
Ludhiana: Residents of Dugri area have raised demand for increase in the police vigil and patrolling around the area particularly during evenings and night hours. During a police-public meeting at a park of Urban Estate Phase-1, on Tuesday, local residents demanded that more cops should be deployed to manage traffic at Dugri bridge and Dugri market crossings, as there were places that witnessed traffic jams throughout the day.
Residents also asked police to ensure complaints of senior citizens were redressed in a time bound manner, and cops treated them with courtesy.
During the meeting with the residents senior police officials of Dugri police station, President of Youth Akali Dal (YAD) Meetpal Singh Dugri and some other locals were also present.
Senior police officials present in the meeting assured the residents to take necessary measures and requested them to pas on information regarding anti-social elements and drug traffickers to police, so that action can be taken against such people. During the meeting Meetpal Singh Dugri praised Dugri police for in curbing incidents of drunken driving, snatching in the area. He also assured residents that such meetings would take place on a monthly basis now.
