Engaged in flyover work, JCB runs over man
Ludhiana: A JCB machine, engaged in ongoing flyover project at NH-99, ran over a man near Basti Jodhewal chowk, killing him on the spot.
Some onlookers on Saturday morning called the police control room following which the Tibba police reached the spot.
Inspector Paramjeet Singh, SHO, Tibba police station, said the incident seems to be occurred late on Friday night, however police got information in the morning.

A private company is carrying out flyover work at Jodhewal chowk on the national highway. A JCB machine working on the site crushed the man who was either sleeping at the site or suspected to be lying unconscious under the influence of drugs or liquor, the police said. As it was dark, the driver of JCB could not see him and ran over him.
The inspector said officials of company have admitted that their JCB crushed the man. But so far, the man has not been identified. His body would be kept in the mortuary for 72 hours. His picture has been circulated to find about his identify. The police will take further action if someone recognizes him and gives statement.
