‘Give online shop registration facility’
Ludhiana: City businessmen have urged municipal corporation (MC) to make the process of registration under Shops and Establishments Act easier for them and even give the option of online registration to them.
This license is necessary for the small factories and shops’ owners for conducting their business.
On Saturday, a camp was organised at United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers Association (UCPMA) by MC in which officials of department issued certificates under Shops and Establishments Act to 180 businessmen.

Giving more information about the issue, Inderjit Singh Navyug, president of UCPMA said, “Registration under Shops and Establishments Act is mandatory in today’s date and businessmen are facing a lot of problems in getting the certificates issued. We are thankful to MC for organising a camp for us and issuing certificate to our members. We urge them to organise more such camps in future and also ensure that the process of getting shop certificates is made easier.”
Senior vice-president of UCPMA Pradeep Wadhawan said, “In a time when every kind of registration has been made online, why cannot the same under Shop and Establishment Act be online too. This will not only do away with the hassle of visiting MC offices and filling forms, but will also save a lot of time.”
Propaganda secretary of UCPMA Rajinder Sarhali said, “We request municipal corporation authorities to make the process easier for getting the license. They should also ensure that instead of the license being made only for a year, it should be made valid for at least three to five years.”
