Goons rob bizman of car at gunpoint

Ludhiana: Pistol-wielding goons robbed a businessman of his car on GT Road in Jagraon late Saturday evening.
In his police complaint, 55-year-old Roshan Lal of Karimpur Chahwala in Nawanshahr district said on Saturday evening, he was going to his hometown from Sultanpur Lodhi via Moga in his white Innova car (PB32Z-0007). The complainant, a government contractor, said on GT Road in Jagraon, he stopped his car at a roadside to answer nature’s call and on returning he saw a Swift DZire car with four to five persons arriving at the spot.“Three men, between 30 and 35 years old, alighted from the car and came near my vehicle. One of them tried to pull me out of my vehicle. When I didn’t budge, he pointed a pistol at me,” Roshan added.
As soon as Roshan got down, the three miscreants got into his vehicle and sped away towards Jagraon. Their accomplices followed them in the Swift Dzire car. He said he couldn’t read the registration number of the car of the accused.
Roshan said his briefcase was in his car that had cheque books of various banks, a 32 bore revolver licence, and other important documents, besides an iPhone. He said after the incident, he informed the cops and officials from Jagraon city police station reached the spot.
Investigating officer assistant sub-inspector Darshan Lal said the complainant had another cellphone with him from which he informed the police. “There are no CCTV cameras at the crime spot, but we are scanning those installed along the road,” the ASI added.
Police said the accused could have taken either of the three roads, Nanaksar Kaunke Road, Amargarh Kler Ghalib Road or Ludhiana-Jagraon Road.
A case has been registered under sections 392 (punishment for robbery) of the IPC and sections of the Arms Act.
