Ludhiana-Amritsar highway blocked against SC order to demolish Delhi’s Ravidas temple
Ravidass community blocked Ludhiana- Amritsar National Highway on Saturday
LUDHIANA: Several people belonging to Ravidass community blocked Ludhiana- Amritsar National Highway on Saturday morning against the decision of the Supreme Court to demolish the 15th century Ravidas temple in Tughlakabad, Delhi.
The community members are agitated against the SC order and are demanding the government to intervene.
The protest was started at around 11:30am, when several people belonging to Ravidas community gathered at Jalandhar Bypass, National Highway-44.

Following the protest, the senior police officials reached on spot to pacify the agitators.
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) worker Naresh Basra said that the 15th century old temple was built on the land given by then rural Sikandar Lodhi to Ravidas community. “The order to demolish the temple has hurt our sentiments. We have demanded the government to intervene,” added Basra.
He added that this was a state level protest and would continue till our demands were fulfilled.
