LUDHIANA: City businessmen are up in arms against the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation and administration after the rain wreak havoc in the industrial areas. The rains which lashed the city on Thursday afternoon led to severe waterlogging in Gill Road, Talab Bazar, Industrial Area and Focal Point.

In some areas, the rain water even entered the factories making businessmen furious.
They are demanding that the municipal corporation and administration take concrete measures to resolve this problem of waterlogging which occurs even after light showers in the city.
President of Fasteners Suppliers Association, Ludhiana, Rajkumar Singla said, "This is nothing less than a tragic situation for the businessmen that even after paying so many taxes this is what we get. Even a small spell of rain has brought flood like situation at Gill Road, especially in Muradpura , Vishwkarma Town, Partap Nagar. Regardless of our constant requests to the MC officials nothing has been done in years."
Ludhiana Tractor Parts and Manufacturers Association (LTMA) Vijay Dadu said, "The aftermath of today's rainfall is a warning sign for the authorities that they better keep themselves equipped for the monsoon season."
Rajiv Jain, General Secretary of United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers Association said, "If half an hour of rain can cause so much problems what will happen in when monsoon arrives in the city. In addition to waterlogging in all industrial areas, water entered a large number of factories today causing damage to the stock."
Amarjit Singh Swan, President of Ludhiana sewing machine industries association, said, "We request both the civic body and the state government to take stalk of this situation and take necessary steps so that this problem can be solved."
