The officials of the district food supplies and consumer affairs (DFSC) department have sought a week's time from the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation for clearing the pending dues to avoid sealing of their office.
They met the MC commissioner KP Brar on Wednesday in this regard.
However, sources revealed that food, civil supplies and consumer affairs minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu has sought records from MC officials regarding the payments.
As per the officials, since 2003, the department had taken the third floor of the MC office on rent. Every month, they are supposed to pay Rs 90,000 to the civic body but they have failed to make the payments on time.
