LUDHIANA: Almost four days after Congress president Rahul Gandhi claimed that Punjab government's crackdown has decimated drug mafia in the state, the Lok Insaaf Party MLA from Ludhiana, Simranjit Singh Bains, purchased ‘chitta’ (white powder/ heroin) while being live on Facebook near Cheema Chowk on Monday morning.
The MLA stated that drugs are being sold like potatoes in Ludhiana.
Bains accused Ludhiana Police of being hand in glove with drug smugglers.

The Facebook live video shows Bains going to the office of Ludhiana Police Commissioner Sukhchain Singh Gill soon after purchasing the drugs.
Simranjit Bains asks how it is possible that the area SHO is unaware of the drugs being sold in their area. Drugs are being sold in Ludhiana like vegetables and police are mum over it.
He added, "I would hand over half of the drugs to police for tests. I will get the remaining half of the drugs examined myself so that police do not mislead people with wrong chemical reports.”
