Ludhiana: Police arrest 3 after recovering wheat meant for poor families

LUDHIANA: Ludhiana rural police on Wednesday arrested three miscreants after it recovered 46,00 kilograms wheat meant for poor families under government scheme. The accused were identified as Jagdev Sharma, Depot Holder of Amar Mohalla in Ahmedgarh, Balwinder Singh Bindri of the same area and Sarabjit Singh Sonu of Gujjarwal in Jodhan.
Giving details, SSP Ludhiana Rural Varinder Singh Brar said that a police party was present at a check post at village Pakhowal. He added that it received information from secret informer that Jagdev, who is Depot Holder, Balwinder Singh who is mediator and Sarabjit Singh Sonu (seller) in connivance with depot owners were involved in selling of wheat kept for poor families under government scheme for making personal profit resulting in illegal acts.
Police said that the accused are selling this wheat to small atta chakki owners.
It added that on Wednesday also they are going in green colour Tata 407, loaded with the wheat for selling in area of Sudhar.
Cops said that the police party stopped the vehicle at the check post. They added that during checking of vehicle, 46 Quintals (4600 kilograms) of wheat was recovered from it.
Luchians SSP said that the accused were booked under sections 406 (Punishment for criminal breach of trust), 409 (Criminal breach of trust by public servant, or by banker, merchant or agent), 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC at Sudhar police station and they were arrested.
