Ludhiana: Police arrest a person with Rs.1.25 lakh fake currency
LUDHIANA: Jodhan Police arrested a person after it recovered more than Rs 1.25 lakh of fake currency from him. The 40-year-old accused was identified as Sanjeev Kumar of Dhandoli Kalan in Dirbha of Sangrur district.
Police officials said that a team of Jodhan police was in the Sarabha area when it got a tip off from a informer that a person is coming to the area with fake currency. They added that finding the information credible, police party set up a check post on the road at Sarabha village and started checking of suspicious vehicles and persons.
Cops said that later police party saw a person coming on motorcycle and stopped him.
They added that the police team while frisking the accused recovered 1.25 lakh of fake currency of Rs 2000 denomination from him.
SHO Jodhan Police station, Inspector Inderpal Singh said that the accused was booked under section 489-B of Indian Penal Code (IPC) (Using as genuine, forged or counterfeit currency-notes or bank-notes) and he was arrested.
