Ludhiana rural police recovers 700 boxes of illegal liquor, 3 arrested

LUDHIANA: Ludhiana rural police arrested seven liquor peddlers after it recovered 700 boxes of illegal liquor from a truck at Jalaldiwal bus stand. The accused were identified as Bawa Singh of Kaurian Raikot, Jaspal Singh of Lamma, Kuldip Singh of Jamalpur, Jora Singh of Nera Raikot, Mohit Jain of Jain Mohalla Raikot, Joga Singh of Ahmedgarh and Gurmeet Singh of Latala.
Police officials said that on Thursday at around 10.30pm, a police party was present in Jalaldiwal in connection with patrolling to check antisocial elements and drug and liquor peddlers.
They added that an informer came to meet the police party and informed them that Bawa Singh is partner of liquor contractor and he along with Jaspal Singh, driver, and workers of a liquor vend peddle English and country made liquor without license from outside district and sell that in various places in Ludhiana rural areas.
Cops said that the informer also told police party that on Thursday the accused have got liquor from Dana Mandi Burj Hari Singh in a truck and were to load it in small vehicles for supplying in various areas. They added that informer told police that if raid is conducted the accused can be arrested and liquor recovered from them.
Police officials said that finding the information credible, a police party raided the bus stand area in Jalaldiwal and arrested the accused with truck loaded with seven hundred boxes of various types of country made liquor. They added that after recovering the liquor, police seized the truck bearing registration number PB23M-6289 loaded with liquor.
Police booked the accused under sections of Excise Act at Sadar Raikot police station.
