Man booked for uploading lewd comments against wife’s kin

Ludhiana: The police have booked a man and his sister for uploading pictures of his wife’s kin on social medial with lewd comments.
The 21-year-old woman said in her police complaint, “I had tied the knot with the accused, who is based in Russia, on July 14, 2017. Two days after our marriage, my husband returned to Russia and my in-laws started harassing me for dowry.Fed up of the torture, I returned to my parents’ house in August 2018.”
Thereafter, her husband started calling her up to meet their dowry demands.
“My husband would call me from Russia and say if I failed to fulfil the demands of his parents, he would parts ways with me. When I kept ignoring his demands, he uploaded pictures of my mother and sister on a social media site with lewd comments.”
After the woman lodged a complaint with police on October 29, 2018, an inquiry was marked to the cyber cell of Ludhiana police.
Inspector Bachan Singh said, “A case has been registered under sections 506 (criminal intimidation), 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC and the IT Act. The accused are yet to be arrested.”
