Minor held for raping a-year-old neighbour

Ludhiana: A 15-year-old boy has been arrested for raping a one-year-old girl in the city, police said on Tuesday.
Both the accused and the infant are neighbours.
The infant’s mother said in her police complaint, “I was inside the house and my father-in-law was playing with my daughter in the patio on Monday afternoon. After sometime, he put the baby on a cot and went out for work.In the meantime, the accused took my daughter to the washroom on the pretext of giving her a bath. But there, he raped her.”
After putting the baby back on the cot, the youngster fled from there. “On hearing her cries, I rushed to her and found her bleeding. I took her to a doctor, who told that she has been sexually assaulted,” the mother added.
Assistant commissioner of police Sameer Verma said, “The accused would often visit the infant’s house to play with her. Therefore, her mother did not object to his Monday visit. The youngster was arrested on Tuesday under Section 376 (rape) of the IPC and Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He has been sent to a juvenile home.”
