LUDHIANA: A
National Lok Adalat will be
held on December 8 at
District Court, Ludhiana, and also at sub-divisional level.
Disclosing about the programme, Dr Gurprit Kaur, CJM-cum-secretary, District Legal
Services Authority, Ludhiana said, “Cases related to MACT, matrimonial conflicts, land acquisition, civil appeals, rent appeals, criminal appeals (in criminal compoundable cases) shall be taken up by the court of district and sessions judge and the courts of additional district and sessions
judges, Ludhiana.
Consumer complaints before the District Consumer Redressal Forum, Ludhiana, shall also be taken up.”
The disputes resolved through Lok Adalat are on the basis of mutually acceptable terms. A decision which is mutually acceptable to both parties not only brings an end to the long-standing dispute but also puts an end to the legal proceedings. In Lok Adalat, pre-litigative cases can also be put forward in which there is a dispute between two parties but the same has not yet come to the court.
