PSPCL imposes Rs30L penalty in 35 cases of power theft
Ludhiana: The enforcement wings of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) conducted an anti-theft drive on Friday morning at CRPF Colony, Phase 1, Urban Estate, and checked as many as 90 connections. A team of police personnel also accompanied PSPCL enforcement department officials during this drive. PSPCL had detected as many as 35 theft cases in this raid, and charged the offenders with heavy penalties.
Speaking on the occasion, PSPCL chief engineer (Ludhiana Division) Dr Daljit Inderpal Grewal said: “On a tip-off, PSPCL’s enforcement wings carried out a massive anti-theft drive on Friday morning hours at CRPF Colony and detected 35 power theft cases.
A total amount of Rs30 lakh was imposed as penalty on the defaulters.”
PSPCL is taking every possible step to reach out to people complaining against such defaulters, and now people can contact PSPCL by just logging on to Facebook at the address Fb.com/pspclpb, and write down their complaint or issues along with their address and house number, so that officials can reach them easily and initiate further proceedings. Residents can also visit the PSPCL Twitter handle Twitter.com/pspclpb, and register their complaint by providing proper data. On Instagram, PSPCL complaint service is available at Instagram.com/pspcl. Apart from these, a Whatsapp number (9646106835) can also be used to complain to the power department,” said Grewal to TOI.
PSPCL sources said: “The demand for power supply in the district limits has reached almost three times the demand in winter season. And due to excessive use of voltage on high intensive cables, cases of power failure are numerous in the hot weather. So, to overcome such issues, this service has been started in the city. Cases of illegal connections and meter tempering were witnessed in excessive numbers during summer days, because people are always looking for low amounts on electricity bills, even while using excessive power illegally.”
