Residents protest against mobile tower installation
LUDHIANA: The residents of Ranjit Nagar on ATI College Road staged a protest against the installation of one more mobile tower in the area on Sunday. The residents rued that already, people were suffering from several health issues due to the presence of two mobile towers in the area, and now one more mobile tower was going to be installed. The residents staged a protest against the move, and claimed they would not let this mobile tower be installed in the area, and also demanded that the authorities remove the other two towers as well.
Area resident Ajay Kaushik, who works in a private firm, said: “People here are suffering from several health issues due to radiation coming out of mobile towers.
We are staging a protest against the installation of a third tower.” He said it was difficult to stand there in the area, as one could feel the harmful radiation coming out of the mobile tower.
Another area resident and businessman Rajinder Singh rued he was suffering from short-term memory loss due to these mobile towers. He said sometimes, he even struggled to remember things, so there was a demand from all residents that these mobile towers be removed from the area. Meanwhile, one MC official denied having any information about the protest, and said he would look into the matter if residents approach him against these mobile towers.
This is not the first time residents are protesting against the installation of mobile towers in any residential area, as in most areas, people have protested against such towers. In some areas, even installation of such towers was stopped.
