Rly cops carry out extensive checking at station
Ludhiana: The government railway police, including the railway protection force, carried out extensive checking with dog squads, metal detectors at various platforms of the Ludhiana railway station on Tuesday morning.
Moreover, police have been deputed at all the corners for keeping a vigil on passengers travelling from the Ludhiana railway station.
Sources in the railway police department said the extensive checking of the railway station was a result of the intelligence alert in wake of the summer rush season when footfall increased to a great extent.

Balbir Singh, in-charge of the government railway police, said: “After getting directions from the higher authorities, an extensive checking was carried out by both the state as well as the Central government railway security force at the Ludhiana railway station on Tuesday morning. During this special checking, the security forces were equipped with hand-handled metal detectors along with special dog squad team to tackle any unwanted situation.”
“No suspicious activity was witnessed during the checking process, but some vendors were caught which were moving without permission. The police, however, left them with a warning.”
The railway police will continue with such checking in the coming days to maintain peace and harmony at the Ludhiana railway station. More CCTVs cameras will also be installed.
