JALANDHAR: After offering to sponsor visas for students from Punjab to participate in ‘Referendum 2020’ event being held in the UK on August 12, rights body Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) has now offered ‘sponsorship letters’ to Sikh students from Pakistan and Afghanistan to visit the UK and attend the pro-Khalistan event ‘London Declaration’. The group has made the offer through its Facebook page.
To get the ‘sponsorship letter’ for the UK visa, the SFJ has asked students from Pakistan and Afghanistan to record and send personal 30-second video clips supporting ‘London Declaration’ and to send five tweets regarding ‘London Declaration’.

The group has also said free accommodation will be provided in London from August 10-14 to the participating students. Legal adviser of the SFJ Gurpatwant Singh Pannun also issued a statement on Thursday, stating that UK-based Paramjeet Singh Pamma, a known pro-Khalistan activist whom India unsuccessfully tried to extradite from Portugal, is coordinating the invitation and accommodation for students visiting London from across the world to attend the event.
The SFJ is holding the ‘London Declaration’ event at Trafalgar Square, London, to pursue self-determination for the people of Punjab. “The aim of this event is to promote the non-binding referendum that the SFJ will be holding in 2020. The event will be attended by thousands of Sikhs from across the UK, Europe, North America and Australia,” Pannun said. Earlier, the SFJ also advertised 50 ‘jobs’ for students of Punjab as social media experts to campaign for the referendum event.
