Soon, hand-held terminal machines for on-board ticket checking staff
Ludhiana: With a view to bring transparency in ticket generating system, make transaction process more convenient for on-board passengers, northern railway authorities will soon issue hand-held terminal machines to all on-board ticket checking staff of premium trains like Rajdhani Express, Duranto Express (running between Jammu - Amritsar- New Delhi). The devices will be interconnected with e-payment mobile application for easy transaction.

Moreover, these hand-held terminal machines will help the ticket checking staff to get access to data related to availability of seats in trains which they can use while giving vacant seats to those passengers in waiting to get the confirmed seats.
One of the most useful features of providing hand-held terminals to on-board ticket checkers is that it will help counter the problem of arbitrary charging by ticket checkers as railway authorities in the past months have received several complaints regarding overcharging by on-board tickets checkers from passengers who were unaware about the exact fair of the tickets.
Sources in railway department said, “Railways has taken this step to boost up the initiative of paper-less ticketing system, gave relief to passenger so that do not have to carry cash during their travelling.”
Ludhiana station director, Abhinav Singla , said, “After the pilot project which was successfully executed in premium trains of Delhi and Mumbai in the past several months, northern railway authorities will soon be going to adopt this technology in prominent trains passing through the Ferozpur division with a view to promote the Indian railway initative of shifting to digital mode.”
“This hand-held terminal system will remain connected to the main control of northern railway authorities so that in case of unwanted situation, on-board passengers who need any kind of help of railway officials, can contact them without any delay,” said Singla while talking to TOI. .
