Woman among 3 peddlers arrested with 1.57kg heroin
Ludhiana: The special task force (STF) arrested three accused, including a woman, for drug peddling on Monday.
The STF team also recovered 1.57kg heroin, Rs 1.02 lakh drug money, 20 mobile phones, 10 watches and three cars from the possession of the accused.
The accused have been identified as Dalbara Singh, 35, of Block- J, BRS Nagar; Harpreet Singh, 49, and his wife Sarabjit Kaur, 35, of Model Town.

Dalbara is the son of a city-based trader. His parents had disowned him. Harpreet is the brother of a DSP in Punjab police. Snehdeep Sharma, assistant inspector general, STF, Ludhiana and Ferozepur range, said the accused were arrested from near the BRS Nagar when they were going in their cars. The police recovered 1.57kg heroin from their possession. The STF team also recovered 10 expensive watches, 20 mobile phones and Rs 1.02 lakh drug money.
“The accused have been active in drug peddling for the past eight years. They confessed that they had purchased a lot of property and valuables using the drug money. They used to procure heroin from two smugglers, namely Munish and Bhalwan of Amritsar, and would further sell it in Ludhiana district. Their customers bought heroin against branded watches and expensive mobiles. Some have also given their cars registration papers to them for procuring drugs,” said Sharma.
Inspector Harbans Singh, in-charge, STF, Ludhiana, said Dalbara had been living in a rented accommodation in BRS Nagar from the past one-and-a-half month. “Dalbara and Harpreet are facing around 10 to 12 drug smuggling cases against them and Sarabjit Kaur is facing three cases,” he said. The inspector said the landlords of the house where Dalbara had been living did not get his police verification done. The accused were presented before a court on Tuesday which sent them in two-day police remand.
