Yet to declare candidate, SAD-BJP ask Bittu to list achievement

Yet to declare candidate, SAD-BJP ask Bittu to list achievement
Ludhiana: Even before the formal declaration of candidates by the political parties for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, rival parties have already started training their guns on Congress’s probable candidate and sitting MP Ravneet Singh Bittu.
Notably, Bittu has been grabbing the limelight by attending public functions and taking part in the protests in the last few months, sending a strong message that he would be the party candidate again from Ludhiana parliamentary constituency.
On the other hand, AAP and SAD-BJP are yet to zero in on a “winnable candidate” from the constituency.
Challenging Bittu to list the development works done during his tenure, BJP leaders are asking him to respond to the questionnaire that posed 20 questions to him regarding development works in his constituency in last five years.
The SAD district president Ranjit Dhillon said, “The Congress MP Ravneet Bittu did not bring project of even a flyover for the industrial town in his tenure. Mere inauguration of development works related to roads and tubewells are not enough.” He also claimed that the Congress government in state has completed two years, but the party has failed to fulfill the promises he had made. Dhillon claimed during the campaign in the elections they will highlight the failure of Congress government at the state level and ask the Congress MP Bittu to list his achievements among voters.
On their part, the SAD-BJP leaders plan to highlight the developmental work which has been carried by the BJP-led central government.
The BJP had already issued 20 questions for the Congress MP Ravneet Bittu by saying that latter remained unavailable for most of the tenure and now he is visiting people with a hope to get votes. The SAD BJP leaders claimed that it will not work for him.
BJP district president Jatinder Mittal said Congress MP Ravneet Bittu was not available in the last four-and-a half years, but when the elections approached he started showing interest in the development works for the city and was seen interacting with the general public. “An MP can bring major projects for the constituency, but Bittu did not bring any project for the city and we will continue asking him to give justification as to why he cheated the voters who sent him to parliament,” he said.

Mittal added, “Bittu is counting the smart city projects as his achievement, but he has forgotten the smart city project was conceived by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has introduced 151 schemes in the past five years and we will highlight these schemes in the public forum during elections.”
‘What has BJP given to Ludhiana’
Responding to the claims, MP Ravneet Bittu said, “Before asking anything, they should first explain what has BJP given to Ludhiana or Punjab in last five years. The BJP was at the Centre and if I could not bring any project they should have announced something. I had raised the demand for AIIMS in Ludhiana which was never granted and a world0class railway station was to come up in Ludhiana which never materialised. Even for the completion of national highway project work, we had to state a protest at Toll Plaza.
