MADURAI: The Madurai bench of the Madras high court granted anticipatory bail to two Tamil Nadu journalists who assisted the two French journalists, against whom cases of criminal trespassing have been booked. The French journalists and a local parish priest have been booked by the Manavalakurichi police for trespassing into the Indian Rare Earth Limited (IREL) and shooting videos. While the French nationals could not be questioned as they hurriedly returned to France the same day, police quizzed a local parish priest and the two journalists, according to reports.
The two French nationals - Arthur Roland Rene and Jules Damien - were investigative journalists who had come on a tourist visa. The French journalists were spotted shooting videos on the IREL premises on November 26.
