Woman, daughter-in-law electrocuted in Tamil Nadu

A woman and her daughter-in-law were electrocuted when they came in contact with a snapped livewire near their home in Sivaganga district of Tamil Nadu on Monday night.

MADURAI: A woman and her daughter-in-law were electrocuted when they came in contact with a snapped livewire near their home in Sivaganga district of Tamil Nadu on Monday night.
The deceased have been identified as Deivanai, 60, of Sokkanathapuram and her daughter-in-law Saranya, 27.
Deivanai stamped on a snapped livewire which was lying on the ground and was electrocuted. Saranya was electrocuted when she tried to save her mother-in-law.
Saranya’s two children -- Karthikeyan, 3, and eight-month-old daughter Poojasri -- were with her when the incident happened. The kids escaped with injuries as Saranya managed to throw them away.
The children, who are undergoing treatment in a hospital, were out of danger, police said.
Saranya’s husband Lakshmanan is working in a foreign country.
The Madhagupatti police registered a case and conducted an inquiry.
