MUMBAI: After 14 days of suspension, all the 43 services that run between Mumbai and Pune will be back on the tracks on Saturday. Landslides and damage to tracks due to heavy rainfall at nine locations in the ghat section had led to suspension of services—long-distance as well as passenger—since August 3. On Friday, CR managed to resume 18 intercity services.
CR’s chief public relations officer Sunil Udasi said, “On Friday, a total of 18 services including Deccan Queen and Sinhgad Express were operated.” CR also restored goods trains traffic but with lighter load.
An official said, “We began running goods trains with 3,000 MT load instead of 5,500 MT as a safety measure because the line has just been restored.”
200 plus workers along with railway officials were working around-the-clock to restore services. CR lost more than Rs 145 crore due to the suspension.
