Update at 11.15pm: Slamming the opposition over the allegation that Mumbai's healthcare system has collapsed, city mayor Kishori Pednekar said all those patients who are critical and require emergency treatment will be provided beds.

Update at 10.01pm: On Saturday, Day Two of 'Mission Begin Again', more customers started emerging to make purchases. Shops operated the odd-even scheme in an improved, systematic manner. Traders have sought permission from the state to operate normal business hours till 8.00-9.00pm rather than close at 5.00pm as they do at present.
Update at 9.21pm: 1,274 new COvid-19 cases and 57 deaths reported in Mumbai today, taking the total number of cases to 47,128 and death toll to 1,575, ANI reports quoting Greater Mumbai Municipal Corporation.
8.26pm: 2,739 new cases of Covid-19 and 120 deaths reported in Maharashtra today. Total number of positive cases in the state is now at 82,968, including 37,390 discharges and 2,969 deaths, ANI reports quoting state health department. (ANI)
Update aat 7.55pm: Post migration of labourers, estimated close to 12 lakh from the state, the most industrialised hub in the country - Maharashtra - stares at shortage of workforce. Manufacturing sector though was likely to overcome the migration as a survey done by commissioner of unorganized labour, Pankaj Kumar, has found only 10 % of the migrant labour was engaged in manufacturing , 65% in construction, and 25% in service sector, said MIDC sources.

Update at 6.20pm: A coronavirus positive patient in Mumbai was charged Rs 8000 by a private ambulance owner for transporting her to a mere distance of 200 metres. The incident came to light after the patient’s relative made a video of the ambulance’s driver insisting on demanding this exorbitant fare and the video went viral.
Update at 5.16pm: Two personnel from Maharashtra Police succumbed to Covid-19, while no personnel tested positive in the last 24 hours. The death toll of police officials stands at 33 in the state. A total of 2,561 police personnel have tested positive for the virus till now, with more than 80,000 confirmed cases in the state. (ANI)
Update at 4.17pm: The Bombay high court has directed the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) and the state government to consider suggestions relating to grievances of non-Covid patients and pass appropriate orders on them.
Update at 3.28pm: The Maharashtra Police have observed a "significant" drop in the number of serious offences, including murder, rape, dacoity and kidnapping, during the lockdown as compared to the corresponding period last year. (PTI)
*In a relief to dog lovers, Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) has instructed states to allow pet dogs to be taken for daily walks. The board, in a June 1 circular, said three time slots of 20 minutes each must be created in all zones in which pet owners can walk their dogs for daily needs of nature’s call and exercise, or it would amount to cruelty to animals under law.
*Mumbai doctors have encountered a handful of curious cases where Covid-19 patients have walked in with dengue-positive reports. With the monsoon expected in 10 days, the Covid-dengue combination — both are viral diseases — could prove a tough challenge.
*Bombay high court on Friday, in an interim order, directed domestic airlines, including Air India, to allow passengers to occupy the middle seat strictly in compliance with a May 31 Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) circular and other guidelines.
*BMC denied state Opposition allegations that Covid-19 tests here had drastically reduced. Former chief minister and leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis had claimed tests had reduced.
*Maharashtra government on Friday told Bombay high court it was considering requisition of private ambulances to meet health emergencies, including Covid-19 cases, during lockdown.
*Update by ANI at 11.34am: In the last 24 hours, no police personnel tested positive for Covid-19, however, 2 personnel succumbed to the infection. Total number of police personnel who have tested positive for the virus is at 2,561; death toll stands at 33, Maharashtra Police

*Mumbai needs at least 5,000 ICU beds, ideally in 500-bed clusters in functioning big hospitals so that manpower and specialties can be pooled, said Dr S Santhosh from T V Medical College, Kerala, who is leading a visiting team of 150 health workers to help fight the pandemic.
*Upate by PTI at 10.26am: India registers record single-day spike of 9,887 Covid cases and 294 deaths, pushing infection tally to 2,36,657, death toll to 6,642: Union government
*While the lockdown has led to a spike in job losses across the country, women’s employment has been hit harder than that of men’s, according to a paper by Ashoka University economics professor Ashwini Deshpande.
*The state government told Bombay high court that currently there is no demand from migrant workers for Shramik Special trains.
*BEST, the city’s lifeline on the roads, announced resumption of services for officegoers from Monday after a gap of more than two months, during which time it ferried only essential staffers.
*With the Maharashtra government green signalling movement of private vehicles for non-essentials within Mumbai Metropolitan Region, several parts of the city saw heavy vehicular movement on Friday.
*Business flickered to life in the city on Friday as the state government’s ‘Mission Begin Again’ plan to partially ease lockdown restrictions kicked in. While all shops along one side of the road did not open for business right away, there was palpable relief that consumption would revive sooner than later after a lull of two and a half months.
*Maharashtra on Friday reported 139 Covid-19 fatalities, the highest in a day so far since the start of the outbreak. With this, the state’s toll has reached 2,849. In the last three days, the state has reported a total of 384 deaths. Mumbai equalled its highest toll for a day with 54 deaths, its toll crossing the 1,500 mark to reach 1,519.
