Heavy rainfall in Mumbai, waterlogging at some places

Waterlogging was reported in various parts of the city, including main roads, due to heavy rainfall on Thursday morning. However, the BMC officials stated that they have report of waterlogging only at three spots, but water receded after some time. A BMC official said that there is no traffic diversion due to the waterlogging.

MUMBAI: Waterlogging was reported in various parts of the city, including main roads, due to heavy rainfall on Thursday morning. However, the BMC officials stated that they have report of waterlogging only at three spots, but water receded after some time. A BMC official said that there is no traffic diversion due to the waterlogging.
A video and photo at Kings Circle area circulated by the local residents showing portion of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road (near Kinds Circle Station) flooding and creating hurdle for small vehicles’ movement.
Two police stations –- Sion and Matunga -- situated off the waterlogged road.

Local corporator at Kings Circle Rajeshri Shirwadkar said, “Water receded within an hour. Our area is low line, water from other areas get accumulated near the police stations during heavy rainfall. It is happening since last two decades. BMC should expedite work of Mahul pumping station, which will help to clear water from the King Circle area during heavy rainfall.”
