Maharashtra: Godse for separate plan for water for Marathwada
MUMBAI: Shiv Sena MP Hemant Godse has presented a plan to water resources department minister and district guardian minister Girish Mahajan apprising him about the anger among the people from Sinnar taluka if the water diversion scheme planned for the taluka was extended to Marathwada.
The member of Parliament, Nashik constituency, gave presentation to the minister to draw his attention towards the need of water for the parched Sinnar taluka that has been reeling under these conditions for several years now.

The state government has decided to provide water to Marathwada region by diverting water from the west flowing rivers through the Nashik and Sinnar links that where already planned and the detailed project report was being undertaken.
According to MP Godse and Rajendra Jadhav president Jal Chintan, a non government body based in Nashik, the Daman Ganga Ekdare link is to provide 5 Thousand Million Cubic feet (TMC) of water to Nashik while Gargai Vaitarna Kadva Dev link is to provide 7 TMC water to Sinnar.
The two schemes will ensure inclusion of Nashik and Sinnar in Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) as a result of which the Nashik and Sinnar will also get good chance for development in industries, employment and agriculture.
It may be noted that Nashik which was not in the first list of DMIC, for lack of water despite Nashik providing water to Marathwada, found the place in second list only after insured water supply from above to schemes.
“If this scheme is extended to Marathwada then the Sinnar and so Nashik district will receive a setback as far as opportunity of industries s concerned,” Godse said.
