MUMBAI: A 22-year-old man was nabbed by the
RPF for ticketless travel at
Dadar station on February 13. But a probe showed that the youth, Siddharth Waghmare, had stolen his mother's ornaments and sold some of them to fund his drug habit.
RPF officials recovered a chain, a mangalsutra, two bangles, a cellphone and Rs 500. When the RPF informed Waghare's parents, they did not wish to lodge a complaint.
But they said that the ornaments should not be given to him after his release. Waghmare was produced before a court for ticketless travelling, trespassing and littering. He was convicted and asked to pay up a fine of Rs 700 and counselled about dangers of drugs.
