Mumbai: Mira Road resident jumps off Bandra-Worli Sea link

A man, undergoing psychiatrist treatment, jumped off the Bandra-Worli Sea Link (BWSL) after stopping his sedan car midway towards Worli on Tuesday. The incident was captured in the traffic closed-circuit television (CCTV) on the sea link. The officials at the CCTV server room then alerted the Bandra police station. The deceased identified as Ulhas Nachankar’s (65) body was fished out by the fire brigade team from Mahim shore an hour after he jumped off the sea link.

MUMBAI: A man, undergoing psychiatrist treatment, jumped off the Bandra-Worli Sea Link (BWSL) after stopping his sedan car midway towards Worli in Maharashtra capital Mumbai on Tuesday.
The incident was captured on the traffic closed-circuit television (CCTV) on the sea link. The officials at the CCTV server room then alerted the Bandra police station. The body of the deceased, identified as Ulhas Nachankar’s (65), was fished out by the fire brigade team from Mahim shore an hour after he jumped off the sea link.
Nachankar’s family members said they were unaware about him leaving home till they received a call from the police.
“We got hold of Nachankar’s whereabouts details with the help of vehicle documents that were found in his car. The car has been towed and bought to the Bandra police station,” said the police.
A case of accidental death has been registered. Police said the exact cause of Nachankar taking the extreme step is unknown.
