Lok Sabha polls on a
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) ticket from Dhaurahra constituency in Uttar Pradesh.
As chairman of the Red Crescent Society of India, Siddiqui has worked for victims of the Gujarat earthquake, the tsunami and floods. His NGO had also reached out to the Rohingyas with support at relief camps in Bangladesh.
Asked if he would be painted an "outsider" by his opponents, Siddiqui said: "Many know my work and will support me."
