No orders on relaxing of curbs issued: Maharashtra government

MUMBAI: The state government clarified on Wednesday evening that three “notifications” which were doing the rounds stating that the state has relaxed lockdown rules in red zones were not issued by it.
One of the “notifications” which went around said that physical exercise would be allowed in public places like parks and grounds, a second one said non-essential shops could be opened and the third stated that saloons and beauty parlours could resume in red zones.The state government issued a statement saying “It is observed that above copies of ‘notifications’ are in circulation in social media. The state government clarifies that these notifications are not issued by the Government of Maharashtra.”
Officials said the “orders” purportedly dated May 26 are unsigned. “The orders are not signed by chief secretary Ajoy Mehta. This is neither approved nor issued by the government,” said an official. Since these so-called “orders” appeared detailed, they were shared widely on social media. Officials said it was possible these were drafted by government but were not officially issued as the ground-level situation is being reviewed every day before allowing any relaxations.
