Mumbai: Irregular water supply expected on Thursday

Parts of Mumbai may face water cut by 10 to 15% till June 14, the local civic body said Wednesday.

MUMBAI: The city's water supply is expected to take a hit on Thursday, owing to a technical fault in the operation of Bhatsa Dam that occurred on Tuesday evening.
According to officials from the civic hydraulic department while there will not be any further water cut apart from the existing 10% but the supply is expected to be irregular on Thursday.
BMC Hydraulic engineer Ashok Kumar Tawadia said that since Tuesday evening there was a technical difficulty in the release of water from Bhatsa dam which supplies water to the eastern suburbs and city area.
"Owing to electrical issues, the valve could not be operated and therefore it was needed to be started manually. Due to this water supply to the city was affected. However there is no further water cut apart from the 10% which the city is currently witnessing," he said.
